The Glass Igloos feature a bedroom with a glass roof and luxury beds. From here you can admire the Northern Lights and the bright starry sky from the comfort of your own bed.
Saunas and showers are available in a separate bulding (small glass igloos have a private WC and basin). Luggage should be left in the luggage room at the reception; only a bag with essentials is recommended to bring to the igloos. Here in the arctic wilderness you have the perfect opportunity to look out for the Northern Lights from your own private Glass Igloo, it is even equipped with an Aurora alarm system.
The Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is located 250 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland. The resort is in the Saariselkä fell area and the village is surrounded by stunning arctic wilderness near the Urho Kekkonen National Park. Kakslauttanen Arctic resort is divided into the East and West ‘Villages’ comprising cosy log cabin chalets and glass- and snow igloos, surrounded by pristine nature. Both villages have a reception, a small gift shop and a restaurant. Please note that the villages are approximately 4 kilometres apart. The charming East village is the original village and here you find East village main restaurant offering Laplandic specialities such as reindeer and fish soup.
This is an ideal place for viewing the Northern Lights because of its location far above the Arctic Circle. There is almost no light pollution and very few trees blocking your line of vision. The Northern Lights are visible from late August to late April, and statistically the best time to see them is just before midnight.
